In the first half of the year, the construction machinery industry as a whole maintained steady operations, and its transformation and upgrading accelerated.

Beijing, Aug. 21 (People's Daily Online, reporter Zhao Zhuqing) At the press conference held on the 19th for the China (Beijing) International Construction Machinery, Building Materials Machinery, and Mining Machinery Exhibition (referred to as BICES 2025), Su Zimeng, President of the China Construction Machinery Industry Association, presented an overview of the construction machinery industry’s performance in the first half of 2024. He noted that despite numerous challenges—including the ongoing downturn in the domestic real estate sector and changing international market conditions—the construction machinery industry has maintained an overall stable development trend, with high-quality development steadily advancing and yielding abundant results in terms of high-endization, intelligentization, and green development.
Su Zimeng stated that in the first half of 2024, China's import and export trade volume for construction machinery reached US$27.134 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 3.13%. Among this, imports totaled US$1.297 billion, down 1.65% year-on-year; exports amounted to US$25.837 billion, up 3.38% year-on-year. The trade surplus stood at US$24.54 billion, an increase of US$867 million over the previous year.
Specifically, in the first half of the year, sales of the industry’s major products showed signs of stabilizing at the bottom. In the first half of the year, cumulative sales of the twelve major product categories included in the association’s statistics reached 968,900 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 4.58%. Among these, domestic sales totaled 597,100 units, up 0.31% year-on-year, while exports reached a cumulative total of 371,700 units, up 12.3% year-on-year. Of the twelve major product categories, ten recorded positive growth in exports, with paving machines experiencing the highest growth rate at 89.5%.
Notably, the industry’s transition toward high-end, intelligent, and green development continues to accelerate.
